This is a wonderful oil painting on canvas dated 1969 entitled "Shellduck" by famous British listed artist William Hollywood (1923-1990). "He is very well know for his paintings of wildfowl and game birds in their natural habitat - a lifelong interest. He is one of the few overseas members of the Society of Animal Artists. He has exhibited at the Mooreland Gallery, London; Ackerman Gallery, London; the Sire Peter Scott Annual exhibition, Slimbridge; the County Landowner's Association Game Fair in Great Britain over many years; practically every important wildlife gallery in the British Isles, and the 1980 Bird Art Exhibition at the Leigh Yawkey Woodson Art Museum. His paintings are in the Ulster Museum and Art Gallery and in many private collections throughout Europe and the U.S. Hollywood passed away in late March, 1990". This stunning painting measures approx 19 1/2" x 15 1/2" framed, the painting is 13 1/2" x 9 1/2", it is signed on the lower right, and has the Arthur Ackermann & Sons information label on the back. A painting very similar sold at Christies in 2007 for $1308. A fabulous piece in great condition.
